Eldar Warlock WiP.

Okay, it’s almost Friday and I’ve found some time to take a picture of Warlock that I have been painting on for the past week. Just something that’s been lying around for a while and deserved a little attention.

It's about half done and I wasn’t trying to do anything fancy. My palette is very limited until I can get some new paints. Most of them did not survive the long and extended break. This may be blessing as GW went and redid the whole line again from what I understand.

Anyone have some feedback on what these new paints are like? Are the pots different from the last set or did the stick with old ones? The new ones seemed to aimed at people who hate mixing paint and most of line is just repeated shades and tones of the primary set. Are the washes still the same? I’d be a sad Larry if they were different.

Any insight would be helpful; I’ve never strayed outside of Apple Barrel and Games workshops paints and wonder if this would be a good time to make a switch.  Any recommendations for an outside company would be great otherwise I’ve got some research ahead of me.

Random Wargame Pictures

It’s Sunday, so I figure that’s a good excuse to post up some random photos of the a few games that I played last year. They were still on the camera’s hard disk so…why not?

Some are of my Dark Eldar caught in the heat of battle against friend and foe alike. It’s a shame that more of the Ice battle pictures didn’t turn out better. I’m a sucker for that table. Others are few Mordheim skirmishes between the Skaven and the Men of the Empire.

This week I hope to have my first painted mini of the year posted up by Tuesday. I thought it would be best just to paint some random mini to stretch the old paint brushes again and make sure I remember how to paint.

Is this thing still on???

Greetings to the select few that will see this post, and all it’s pure awesomeness! My name is Larry and it’s been almost a full year since I’ve done anything for this blog. The poor neglected thing, I hope you all have been well and painting since then.

Sadly, the lack of posts are due to a lack of painting and even more so, the complete lack of games. I’ve been this hobby a long time and there’s been some dry spells, but the games have pretty much come to a grinding stop.  I blame myself for letting things get this bad.

The reality is my own painting snobbery is what’s killing the gaming. I just can’t drag my @$$ to the local stores to battle the unpainted hordes. Just in case you are new to the blog, I’m not the most competitive player but my games are a hell a lot sexier than most. I love a drop-down, knock out fight as much as the next war gamer, but it's visual aspect of the game that is deal breaker.

Even with-out the games, the urge to build and paint something has been slowly creeping back, but with taking such a long break, I’m at a loss for where to pick back up.  I think my next post will be an overview of all my possible future projects/madness.

The one thing I do know is that you can see a brand new grammar-forsaken post here each and every week or at least that’s the goal. If I can get some games happening, then maybe we can get back to posting at little more frequently. If not I’ll just make some grumpy old man posts. Those are always fun.

And yes, I did finish those models from that last post over a year ago. Well, almost finished.
